Protect Your Home Against Costly Frozen Pipe Damage

Over the winter months, some homeowners travel and leave their homes unattended. It is vitally important to protect your home or vacation property from pipe freezing should your heating system fail.

Water expands when it freezes – pipes do not! So a frozen pipe can burst, resulting in thousands of dollars of damage.

If your pipes do freeze, here are some tips to prevent further damage:

  • Find your main water shut-off and turn all water off. Then call the Kaiser-Battistone Emergency Hotline immediately: 800.525.6295.
  • Make sure the heat is on and turned up to at least 70 degrees to help warm the house.
  • You might be able to thaw a frozen pipe with warm air from a hair dryer. Start by warming the pipe as close to the faucet as possible.
  • If your water pipes have already burst, double-check to make sure the water is off. And leave the water faucets turned on.
  • If you don't know where the main water shut off is, call the Kaiser-Battistone Emergency Hotline and we can help you find it. And once we are at the house, we will also tag it for you.

Call us and avoid the mess and expense frozen pipes can cause. We'll fix it right and show you how to keep it from happening again.
